☀️ soak up the final days of summer

I'm not sure who needs to hear this but...

Summer is almost over. I know, I know!! We still have six more days and the temps are on the upward trajectory. But it's time to embrace that fall is almost here.

That doesn't mean you have to pull out your puffies just yet. (Well, maybe after 5 pm). Just a few days ago, On Tap was one of the busiest I've seen in awhile. The carts were bustling, the taps were flowing, and families were letting out a collective sigh as the kids played and grown-ups enjoyed a juicy blood orange cider and dose of Vitamin D (me, I'm grown-ups).

We did a 'little bit from everywhere' dinner, which means we pick one thing from each cart and do a family-style buffet. There's no debating that the 'Aina Hawaiian's spicy crunch poke bowl was my favorite pick of the night.

Bowls come with a rice and mixed greens base, loaded with ahi, crunchy shrimp, fresh and pickled veggies, crunchy ginger, edamame, furikake, and ‘Aina’s spicy aioli. But coming in at a close second was CurBBQ's faaamous brisket grilled cheese (this one warms my heart, and my tummy).

All that to say, the end of summer is certainly not the end of dinners on the patio. On Tap's fire pits, cool weather tents, and soon-to-be enclosed taproom just means those summer nights turn into cozy cart dining. You can also visit the newly-added Ma Dee Thai, El Taquero, Bleu Rooster, Rush's Squares, and Sno Ball Express.

The plans are made, just follow the itinerary! September in Sisters is a magical time. Start your day with specialty tea lattés, take a farm tour, visit a working bee farm and sip on mead wines, and more!

Take farm-to-table to the next step... with a forest-to-table feast. Autumn is one of the best times of the year to forage for mushrooms in Oregon, and the finds are often magical (no, not that kind of magic mushroom). I'm talking about forest-grown culinary mushrooms, ready to be foraged. Wild Rye at Brasada Ranch will host its annual feast, The Foraged Dinner + wine pairing, on October 24 at 6 pm. The banquet and menu is curated by Chef Karl Holl who hunts and picks the mushrooms by hand,...
