❤️‍🩹 ways to receive and give support in Bend

Bend, I'm heart broken alongside you.

In lieu of my typical weekly specials email, I've included a round-up of ways you can receive or give support to our community.

Community support: Friday, October 16

🥯 Bo's Bagels: Free meals, no questions asked, no matter your situation. I was able to pickup breakfast for a Silver Rail Elementary family, and they are more than happy to provide this. You don't need to explain. All meals will be discounted 100% at the register.

🥯 Mimi's Bagels: If you are a family, faculty, or have in any way been impacted by the events, bagels are free to you. Simply let them know when you order.

🍕 Old Towne Pizza Co: Downtown pizzeria is offering free 12" pizzas to any families, staff, first responders, or people affected by the events.

🫖 Bend Teal: The tea and art lounge in Downtown Bend will have free art activities for anyone looking to be in community, along with free pizza for kids from Ken's Artisa Pizza. 9 am til 2 pm.

🦔 High Desert Museum: Free admission to everyone in the community. 9 am to 5 pm.

🏨 Cambria Hotel: If you have family in town or heading into town, they can stay at no cost at the new hotel on Columbia Street. Reach out directly to the front desk to arrange the stay.

🍽️ Austin Mercantile: Free meals for kids, no additional purchase necessary. They'll have board games, coloring books, and activities for kids and families. All are welcome.

🏋️‍♀️ HIIT Logic Bend East: Free work outs for anyone who needs to move emotions through their body or just get out of the house. Classes at noon and 4 pm.

🍩 Dear Mom Café: Oh My Goodness bakery, located inside Dear Mom Café, will have free donuts for anyone who could use a little sweet comfort. Opens at 11 am.

☕️ Café des Chutes: Free cup of coffee, tea, hot cocoa, or slice of banana bread for anyone looking to be in community. People will gather for conversations.

🌮 El Taquero: If you know a Silver Rail Elementary family who could use a meal, reach out directly to El Taquero. They'll provide free meals for you to deliver.

🫂 Deschutes Library: Walk-in support from professional crisis response staff and peers, small ground discussions, and guidance on talking with children about the events. Central Library from 10 am to 3 pm in the Community Room (first floor). Larkspur Community Center from 4 to 7 pm.

How you can help our community:

❤️‍🩹 Donate to the Summer family. Our community has learned of the first victim and family. A 5-year-old child, Rhoam, whose family needs our support more than ever. You can donate to the Rhoam's family or contribute to their meal train.

🎨 Help get art supplies and creative kits to the families of Silver Rail Elementary. Two Suns Art Studio + Makerspace is partnering with Whimsy With Purpose to provide children with a creative outlet to help them navigate this difficult experience. Reach out to Two Suns Art directly on Instagram.

🥩 Dine and donate at Hawkeye & Huckleberry Lounge. On Wednesday, October 21, 100% of proceeds will go directly to the victims and families of this tragedy. The Malarkey family will match all dollars spent, doubling the donation.

🍪 Small-batch bakery Frosted Gluten-Free Delights will donate to the families 50% proceeds from all orders for this weekend. Pick-up this weekend in Redmond. Order your cookies here.

In Remembrance: A Candlelight Vigil

🕯️ Tonight from 7-8 pm at Peace Corner, join community members for a Silent Candlelight Vigil to honor and remember the victims of this tragedy.

Take farm-to-table to the next step... with a forest-to-table feast. Autumn is one of the best times of the year to forage for mushrooms in Oregon, and the finds are often magical (no, not that kind of magic mushroom). I'm talking about forest-grown culinary mushrooms, ready to be foraged. Wild Rye at Brasada Ranch will host its annual feast, The Foraged Dinner + wine pairing, on October 24 at 6 pm. The banquet and menu is curated by Chef Karl Holl who hunts and picks the mushrooms by hand,...

Kefi Fast Fresh Mediterranean, located in Robal Road Village, has announced they are NOT for sale any longer. So, we're celebrating with a very special special at Kefi... and they're putting my spicy custom order on the menu. Starting tomorrow, October 1st, you can get the Nancy's Spicy Favorite at Kefi for...
