Bend's newest restaurant collab

It's the Central Oregon food and drink collab we've been waiting for.

After what feels like years of anticipation, it's finally open...

Smoked meats, deli provisions, hearty sandwiches, cocktails & mocktails... It's The Way West in the Jackstraw building!

Two local favorites have come together to create this old Western-themed eatery and watering hole, combining forces (and specialties) to bring this vision to Bend.

Sisters Smokehouse and Bend Brewing Co. (also owners of Waypoint BBC) are the talent behind The Way West, which offers a super casual, multi-option way to dine at the Box Factory.

Here's how it works: choose to grab-and-go or snag a table (inside and outside!). Counter service allows guests to pick their seat, or take it to go. Same goes for the bar. Want a cocktail/mocktail? Pop over to order a drink and enjoy at the bar or bring it back to your seat.

Now, for the food options! The menu offers mostly sandwiches and salads, with deli counter options of smoked cheeses, potato salad, various sides, and sweet treats.

I highly recommend getting the popular (and sometimes sold-out) Smokin' Gun Chicken, but would definitely go back for the Beef & Cheddar with spicy horseradish and crispy fried onions.

TWW is open every day at 10 a.m., with a 3-5 p.m. happy hour.

Hook & Plow is now in the brunch biz

One more spot to get your weekend brunch fix! The Hook & Plow, located in the Westside Yard, recently added brunch service to the menu—and possibly the best Monte Cristo you'll find in Bend.

Wine tasting next door

After brunch, pop over to Viaggio Wine Merchant just two doors over. You can choose from Coravin pours by the glass, wine flights, or enjoy some bubbles on the patio. Peruse their wine library for a bottle to take home, too!

I can't wait to show you more Bend and Central Oregon culinary gems! 💎

Take farm-to-table to the next step... with a forest-to-table feast. Autumn is one of the best times of the year to forage for mushrooms in Oregon, and the finds are often magical (no, not that kind of magic mushroom). I'm talking about forest-grown culinary mushrooms, ready to be foraged. Wild Rye at Brasada Ranch will host its annual feast, The Foraged Dinner + wine pairing, on October 24 at 6 pm. The banquet and menu is curated by Chef Karl Holl who hunts and picks the mushrooms by hand,...
